We've Got The Answers.

What is Inner MD and who do you help?

Inner MD is a physician-led clinic in Nova Scotia providing personalized, evidence-based hormone care to people in Atlantic Canada. We support women, men and individuals with diverse gender identities experiencing changes related to menopause, perimenopause, PMS/PMDD, postpartum transitions, low testosterone and other hormone-related concerns. Our goal is to help you feel like yourself again—well-informed, supported, and in control of your health.

If you’re a man or woman experiencing new symptoms that disrupt your daily life — from sleep disturbances and low energy to mood changes, hot flushes or libido changes — hormone therapy might be worth exploring.  Many of these symptoms can be multifactorial but we’re here to help you understand if hormones are playing a part of your story.

We’ll start with a detailed conversation about your symptoms, health goals, and medical history, and arrange any lab work that may be helpful.  This appointment may be with our registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician, depending on your care needs and appointment availability.  At your second appointment, we’ll review your results together.  If hormone therapy is appropriate, we’ll explain how it works, what to expect, and create a follow-up plan to monitor your progress and adjust as needed.

Hormone therapy is safe for many people, but it’s not one-size-fits-all. We follow evidence-based guidelines and monitor your progress with regular check-ins and lab testing (if needed) to ensure treatment remains safe, effective and tailored to your needs.

Many patients notice improvements within two to four weeks though the full effect can take several months. We’ll adjust your treatment over time as needed to find the right balance for your body.

We offer in-person appointments at our clinic in Wolfville, NS as well as virtual and phone appointments.  You are welcome to speak to our staff and choose the appointment type that works best for you.

Bioidentical hormone therapy is considered part of complementary and integrative medicine, so appointments are billed privately and not covered through provincial health insurance (MSI). This approach allows for longer, more comprehensive appointments and personalized care.  Having said that, your appointment fee may be reimbursable, depending on your private insurance coverage.

Most prescription medications are covered under standard drug plans, though this can vary by provider and medication type. We’re happy to review your options and help you understand what may be covered before you begin treatment.

Yes, you’re welcome to transfer to us as needed.  We’ll review your current clinical picture, treatment plan and lab results (if required) then work with you to ensure your plan remains evidence-based and right for you.
